In Catawba, Wisconsin, 58-year-old Frank Oresnik’s 1991 Chevy Silverado 1500 recently clocked 1 million miles on the odometer. According to Oresnik, the ‘91 Silverado has been through four radiators, three gas tanks, and five transmissions - but the engine is still an original. On Thursday night, he began a tearful send-off when he placed the faithful truck up for bid on eBay with a starting price of $30,000.
We have a tremendous amount of respect for Frank for being so faithful to his ride, and we issue him a sincere tip of the hat for such an amazing feat [especially considering it's a Chevrolet]. So it is in a purely humorous vein when we mention that unimpressed Volvo owners would like to point out that Volvo’s have been reaching the 1 million mile mark - sans multiple major repairs - before Chevy was even knee-high to a grasshopper. We support this assertion with the Swedish Speed Demon currently parked in one of our staff member’s driveway, which has never required much more than meticulous routine maintenance, and is rapidly approaching the 500,000 mile-marker.
