Finding Car Dealership Jobs

Car dealerships are everywhere, and if you’re looking for a particular job there, you’re going to find that there’s more to the dealership than just sales.  I’ve never worked in a dealership before, but I know of a few friends that have, and they seemed to enjoy it, since there’s a lot of room for advancement.

As long as you find a good dealership that knows how to treat their customers right, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a job that best suits you.  If you love cars, and everything about them, check out your local car dealership.

  • Car washing – This is an entry level job.  You’ll basically wash the cars all the time, and move the cars around the lot here, and there.
  • Porter - This job will require you to either drive people home, when their car is in the shop, and you may also have to drive cars around the lot as well.
  • Cashier - The cashier’s duty is generally to work with all financial transactions including the mechanical garage, etc.  Dealerships will vary on this one.
  • Mechanic - A mechanic will basically do all the work on cars that come into the service garage.  From new brake pads, to an oil change, this job is like any other car repair shop.
  • Sales - Sales is probably the biggest gig in the place.  You’ll be in charge of selling the cars.  You’ll answer all questions, and fill out all the paperwork.  This is a great job for those that are good with people.  The money is endless, since you’ll work on a commission basis.
  • Internet marketing – This job will allow you to post pictures online, and answer any incoming e-mails that involve the internet.  Most dealerships use this technique today, but not all of them.
  • Cleaner - This job describes the gig perfectly.  You’ll be in charge of cleaning the lobby, mechanic shop, and the parking lot.  You may even have to help with landscaping.
  • Receptionist – Here, you’ll answer all incoming jobs, and do the dirty paper work that has to be done.
  • Financing – Some dealerships have this department, if you can finance through them.  They will help with all the financing work.

As you can see, there are a lot of jobs at local car dealerships.  Head on down to one to see if there are any openings, or even check the classifieds online.  See what you’d like to do, and find out if there’s an opening in your area!
