Unfortunately there comes that time when we need to get a new transmission for our vehicle. Usually you will be able to tell because your car won’t shift properly, and the way the car runs is a little choppy. These tend to be more on the expensive side, so there is a lot to look into before you settle for a new one. Consider a few of these tips below before you get a new one installed.
Easy fix – Sometimes you may think your transmission went bad, but really it might be an easy fix. If you can, just get it looked at and see if there is a smaller problem than you think.
Compare – You can always compare prices with different auto stores. You can do this by calling up to see what their prices are before you set up an appointment. This will give you a good price range, and will tell you who’s too pricey and who’s more in your price range.
Junk yard – It is also a good idea to consider a used transmission. Junk yards have cars with some good parts. These parts you can get for a great price, instead of having someone look at your car and install it with a new one.
Is it worth it? – You also want to think whether or not your car is worth it. How many more miles do you think you can get out of it? Transmissions can be thousands of dollars, so would it be a better idea to just get a new car? You need to consider the mileage, and how long your engine will last.
Buying a new transmission is pretty frustrating. Your cars not running right, you need a new car in the meantime, and the price of a new one might be a little costly. Consider a few of these tips listed above, so you can save more money, and see if you your car is even worth it.
