It has been reported that Toyota is preparing to plug-in to the idea that there is enough demand and sufficient need to test a plug-in hybrid Prius. That was the report on Green Car Congress bringing news from Japan that Toyota has applied for permission from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to test their new plug-in Prius. Not only will they be testing the technology that some in California have been voiding their Toyota warranties to enjoy but the test Prius’ will be coming with the li-ion batteries that have been an issue for the company. It seems in prior attempts Toyota has complained about the li-ion batteries over-heating, but maybe this is a sign that they have addressed that issue.
Either way Toyota’s test plug-in is a real win for those who have tauted their plug-in success with 100+ mpg for over a year now. Way to catch-up Toyota!
